Today was my last day before my practicum goes into hiatus, beginning again on July 7th. I began by adding accretions to the appropriate collections and series. I learned this can be a little tricky -it's important to have a good understanding of what each series really contains and not to assume that the title given to the series fully describes its contents.
The rest of the day was spent cataloging, applying bar codes and entering books into the access database. While cataloging I noticed that some of the books were marked as "reference". I asked Ellie how she decided what was reference and what would be considered part of the main collection. She referred me to this definition a book of "information [that] is intended to be quickly found when needed".

- I received my M.L.I.S. from Kent State University with a concentration in Archival Administration. Since the completion of my M.L.I.S. I have constructed a digital repository for Cleveland State University, volunteered at the Hudson Historical Society and traced my genealogy back to slavery using census records and slave registers. Currently, I am working at the Mayme A. Clayton Library & Museum where I am processing Mayme Clayton’s personal papers, implementing cloud computing as a method of digital archives management, and digitizing a collection of photographs that date back to the early 20th century.
